What we do

Sloped yards are everywhere around here. A well-built retaining wall turns a hill you can't use into level lawn, planting beds or patio space. We build segmental block and stone walls with a compacted base and drainage behind them, because water is what pushes walls over.

Services include

  • Segmental block retaining walls
  • Natural stone and boulder walls
  • Terraced and tiered planting beds
  • Steps built into walls
  • Drain rock and perforated pipe behind the wall
  • Removal and replacement of failing walls
After: Steep front slope turned into two levels of planting beds with new steps.
Before: Steep front slope turned into two levels of planting beds with new steps.
BeforeAfter

FAQs

Do I need a permit for a retaining wall?

Many cities in our area require a permit, and sometimes an engineer, for taller walls or walls holding back a driveway or structure. If your wall needs a permit, we take care of it for you.

Why do retaining walls fail?

Usually water. Without drain rock and a pipe behind the wall, rain builds up pressure and pushes it out. Every wall we build includes drainage.

Block or natural stone?

Segmental block is engineered to stack and lock together, comes in many colors and is usually the most cost-effective. Natural stone and boulders give a more organic look. We build both.

Can you fix or replace my leaning wall?

Yes. We'll look at why it's failing, usually drainage or a weak base, then rebuild it properly.

Can you add steps or lighting?

Yes. Steps, caps and low-voltage lighting can all be built into the wall.
